The patron saint of beekeepers

It is not widely known that Saint Valentine is also regarded as the patron saint of bees. He is even said to have been a beekeeper himself.

One well-known legend tells that while he was imprisoned for secretly performing marriages, Saint Valentine met a blind girl in his cell. He taught her the art of beekeeping, and her sight was said to have been restored. Since then, bees have come to symbolize Saint Valentine’s compassion and kindness.
