The Lively Nature of BeeCamp

At BeeCamp, we plant wildflowers and herbs that our honeybees love, creating a field where blossoms appear from early spring through late autumn. Our supporters (the BeeCampers) also join in, planting their favorite plants in spots they choose, making the landscape even more colorful.

The other day, a neighbor who grows fruit trees kindly gave us an avocado tree, which we planted together. We also spread coffee grounds kindly shared by Icoi Coffee, and little by little, the soil—once a rice paddy—has been transforming into rich, fertile earth.

As we continue these small efforts, we’ve noticed the ecosystem around BeeCamp becoming more and more vibrant. Along with countless insects, frogs, lizards, salamanders, and even snakes have begun to appear.

Birdsong fills the air—warblers, pheasants, quails, woodpeckers, and even graceful egrets come to visit. Looking up at the sky, we often see hawks and black kites gliding by. And every now and then, we’re delighted by the surprise visits of weasels (itachi) or raccoon dogs (tanuki).
