Overwintering Preparation

At BeeCamp, we’re steadily moving forward with preparations for the bees to get through the winter. Based on what we learned from last year’s wintering, there are countless things we need to pay close attention to: colony strength, hive size, wind and cold protection, humidity control inside the hive, stored honey, emergency food supplies, and the final mite treatment… the list goes on.

We do our last hive inspection on a calm day with temperatures above 13°C. But if we find any issues at that stage, there’s unfortunately very little we can do.

All we can do is hope for the best and cheer them on—“Hang in there, girls.”
