Varieties of Japanese honeys

Do you know about the different types of honey?
In Japan, the most commonly produced honey is multifloral honey, also known as “hyakkamitsu”, which accounts for about 50% of all domestic honey. (All honey produced by Japanese honeybees is multifloral.)
Next in volume is acacia honey, making up about 25%, followed by milk vetch (renge) at around 15%, and mikan (citrus) honey, a specialty of Ehime and Wakayama, at about 10%.
Multifloral honey varies in taste depending on the region, season, and weather, so many honey lovers enjoy the unique flavors from year to year.
