I wrote about this in the newsletter we’ll be sending out soon:
“BeeCamp is not simply a place where we keep bees to make honey.
It is a place where everyone can take part and come together.
A place where everyone who joins us can look forward to coming back again.”
That’s what we hope BeeCamp will become.
But then you might ask, “What does it actually mean to take part?”
Of course, we’d be very happy if you’d like to help us care for the bees.
But there are actually many ways to be part of BeeCamp—and they don’t all involve beekeeping.
For example, this morning, three BeeCampers came by and pulled out the weeds that had grown way too tall. Then they brought along flowers and vegetable seedlings they liked, planted them, and scattered some seeds. Now we’ll all watch together and see how they grow through the coming autumn.
I wonder if the bees are looking forward to them too?
Ideally, we’d celebrate with a beer here… but today, we raised our iced coffees instead.
And after that, why not head off to a hot spring and wash away the sweat?
Spending time in nature, with the honeybees buzzing around us, talking about all sorts of things, and simply taking a moment to settle yourself — there’s something wonderfully relaxing about it.
A place where everyone can take part in their own way.
A place where you can drop by anytime, feel at home, and just hang out and do… whatever.
There’s no right way to participate.
When we bring someone to BeeCamp for the first time—our “first-timers”—we sincerely hope they’ll become regulars. That’s how we welcome people here.
And the proceeds from our “Honey Tasting Set,” which will be available soon, help support the activities that allow us to keep creating BeeCamp.
