Yesterday, one of our wonderful BeeCampers discovered that a swarm of Japanese honey bees had moved into a bait hive (swarm trap) we had placed near the banana grove above BeeCamp!

Every year we have set out swarm traps with lure attractants, hoping that one day Japanese honey bees would choose BeeCamp as their new home. After four years of trying, our dream has finally come true. We couldn't be happier, and everyone here is absolutely thrilled!
Over the coming weeks, we'll install hornet protection netting and continue caring for this new colony so they can live safely and happily with us for many years to come.
And of course, every new colony deserves a name.
